  • Accepting Product

    • Suppliers deliver their lumber to one of our five facilities.
    • When lumber is received, it is dipped in an environmentally-safe chemical treatment to protect from stains and mold keeping product fresh and bright.

    • Lumber Inspectors determine grade & species of each board.
Green Lumber Inspection
  • Measurement & Tally
    • Lumber is measured and tallied at the green chain using a voice activated computer tally system.
    • Final tally is provided to Administrative staff to complete supplier payment process.

  • Grading
    • Boards are pulled and separated based on grade, species and length. Then they are placed in designated carts.

    • Forklifts transfer boards to stacker line.







    • Lumber is placed on sticks for proper air drying and bundles are created.






    • Inventory is recorded in computer system for tracking.

  • Air Drying
    • Bundles air dry in yard.
      • 12-15M bf air-drying lumber maintained at our five facilities.
      • Standard air drying time (oak):
          » 1/Btr grades: 60 days
          » Lower grades: 90 days
      • White wood species such as Hickory, H. Maple, S. Maple, & Ash are placed in kilns green to keep stock fresh & bright.
Air Drying Bundles
  • Kiln Drying
    • When air drying complete, stock is placed in kilns.
    • Bundles are numbered, recorded and mapped within kiln.
    • Lumber is kiln dried to 6-9% moisture content and properly stress relieved.
    • Capacity of these four kiln chambers in Western Grove, Arkansas is 340,000 bf. Total kiln capacity of all locations is 1.6M bf.

  • Boilers
    • Kilns fired by wood waste boilers. Wood waste fuel is developed from planer shavings. Hogged waste is generated from our finishing lines.

  • Steamer
    • Walnut lumber is steamed in one of two steaming systems.
    • Lumber is steamed dead packed and placed on sticks for kiln drying.

  • Leaving the Kilns
    • Dry bundles are moved from the kilns to cooling sheds. Bundles are allowed to cool a minimum of 24 hours prior to processing.
    • Product moves to planer line, where sticks are removed.




    • Lumber is surfaced two sides according to customers' specifications and re-inspected to ensure grade.





    • Product is double-end trimmed. Boards are pulled by grade/length and placed in carts.

  • Final Steps
    • After planer inspection, bundles are banded, end painted and a logo is added. Tally person measures layers in each bundle to calculate footage.
    • Product moved to warehouse and staged for shipping.

    • Product shipping out will be loaded into a container or onto a truck for transport.
